Choosing the right running shoe for your feet

Athletics Australia, the governing body for Athletics in Australia, has conducted a Winning Edge review of Australian sport and as part of this review is making some big changes.

One of these changes is a National Athlete Support Scheme which will be the framework for Athletics to achieve greater success on the national stage when it comes to track sports.

Currently, the Australian Institute of Sports provide scholarships to those that have success. The level of scholarship is tiered depending on the level of success of the individual. The sporting body is now moving away from this which could result in programs such as the race-walking program, being shut down.

This decision will leave many athletes with an uncertainty over their future however is deemed to be the right way forward by many athletes.

The plan is expected to bring uniformity of the support scheme Australia wide and many are optimistic that this will lead to greater success.
